Guyra to Bellingen

So, after roaming around the New England ranges for a couple of weeks, I have (unwillingly) come down the mountain to Dorrigo - in rain, wind and fog on Saturday, which I haven't driven since my twenties, praying for an area to pull off to the side of the road, I finally stopped and parked in a sports ground carpark. Exhausted from the effort I wondered why there were so few, if any spots for tired drivers to pull over for a rest.  Anyway, though I missed the lovely countryside and arrived safely in Thora, and then stayed at the lovely Bellingen showground for a mere $10 per night ($18 for a powered site) I don't think I will ever again be tempted to drive this route!! yawnyawn

At least you are safe Wild1 and that's the main thing. I too travelled through thick fog for 3 hours but on Sunday morning. I did get a couple of stretches of no fog and that was appreciated.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

I did the Grafton to Armidale route a few years ago. I was told it was a great route by a truckstop guy in Grafton.

Yup. Never again. 8 Ton motorhome towing a Suzuki Grand Vitara. When the road advisory signs said 15 Kph they sure meant it. I was glad I never met anything coming the other way.

It may be beautiful country but not ever again. I took four hours to drive the 100 or so K's. I ended up driving in the dark because I did not know it was such a winding slow drive.  I ended up going to Guyra as well. I missed the Armidale turn off in the dark, No warning just the signpost where to turning was.

I am sorry but no pain no gain.

I have on a number of occasions with out a choice needed to drive in this sort of weather to deliver your food stuffs to a super market near you, now say thank you to all back block sturpid truck drivers as you go along your merry way..

I just love it.

Do the drive a fee times a year, love it. It is a lovely scenic drive, generally choose to go that way instead of other options.

I had the pleasure of travelling the road in similar extreme conditions a few years ago in my then Troopy and Caravan combination (over 45 ft in total length) and got through safely due to my trusty CB radio and the truck drivers who were also using their CB's on route. Regards Tony
