Hi all, I hope everyone is travelling well. (literally) I would like to ask if any travelers have bought caravans of a company in QLD called LUX Caravans. They deal with RV's purchases in the USA and convert them over to Australian standards. I am going through the process now however have found alot of interesting information about people getting scammed and that the companies look all legit with their knowledge and documentation however their not. I would like to hear if anyone else has had dealt with LUX caravans.
I had a van a few yrs ago. Trading Post.

Ask them for shipping Co's invoice and ph no. (Which YOU double check first)
When you confirm it on ship, with YOU as recipient at other end..
THEN part with some money.
Just don't be too keen to let go of it first.
If they not too keen to meet half way. Go elsewhere.
BUT.
I go over there regularly And Canada.
Have family in both. and mates with 5thers, Motorhomes and vans.
Compared to here. they very boxy. mainly all square corners and dark colours.
And impressed me as being fairly old fashioned with interiors.
and rubber roofs on a lot.
Doors on wrong side.
Plus some just swapped in 240 fittings to suit our 240v.
but left the 110v wiring. Which has a lower current carrying capacity.
That's just what I found anyway.
I'd hate to be running my Aircond and big motor loads
on light wiring on mains thank you.
Double and triple check at THAT end first mate.
Enter name and reviews on Google.
then ask a couple of US dealers.
It only costs a coupla ph calls.
Macka 17 - you might have the wiring info wrong way around...pretty sure 110v wiring has a higher current carrying capacity.

I would rather take a hit from our 240 than overseas 110. Amperage means that our 240 is a lot safer than 110 volts. The 110 needs more amperage due to hertz required to drive it. I used to know the maths but I know that that 110 volts is more dangerous than 240!

I suggest you refrain from electrical threads before you kill someone.
The current that flows through your body is the same as for any other load. It has nothing to do with the current that is available from the source. It has everything to do with the voltage that drives it (I = E / R.)
In saying that the power source must also be able to deliver the current necessary to kill you, that's why the many thousands of volts from a coil ignition or an electric fence do not kill you, they are incapable of delivering the required current to do the job.

You know Janelle asked a straight foward question. Rockylizard possibly answered her with a PM. Everyone else spent the rest of the time discussing rubbish that at the best is barely related and spreading disinformation on technical matters. FAKE news even perhaps
If some people would stick to facts that are to the point and in their direct knowledge base we might be better off and helpful.
As an electrician, may I remind you that it's illegal to involve yourself with any mains wiring or investigation. There is a very good reason for this YOU WILL DIE IF YOU GET IT WRONG. Can I suggest that unless you are a qualified electrician you should keep your opinions about what is right or wrong to yourself. I for one would not to have to live with the knowledge that I may have been Responsible for someone's death.
you may feel that I am being a bit hard but after watching someone die from electrocution it's something that you never forget.

Agree Peter. You needed to include Macka17 in that too,,, he started the voltage/current crap with no real knowledge about it either.
