Saw this on Facebook today & verified it with friends who are at the caravan park.

Near miss (Lessons learnt) There is a group of friends (in their 70s) camping at Bremer Bay. Yesterday one of their group left early and was down the road when a friend at the caravan park rang and asked if he left the gate swipe card. As he hadn't he asked if his friend at the park could drive after them and collect the card. The friend said he would and jumped in his car and took off. The wife who was sitting in annex screamed as they had looped their Highland terriers lead over the tow ball and he was asleep under the car. The husband didn't hear his wife's scream and continued driving with his wife running trying to catch up. Other caravan park people also ran after the car. The driver still oblivious turned onto the road and began to accelerate, with the dog trying to keep up. Unfortunately the wife collapsed in distress as she couldn't witness what was going to happen. Fortunately a member of the public was on the side of the road heard the yells and stepped onto the road and stopped the vehicle before it could accelerate away. Fortunately the dog and wife were reunited with no injuries although everyone was very traumatised. The lesson being Don't Tether your four legged children to cars
