Thanks for that info Hako,

It does look cheap and maybe not so flash, as some of the complaints in the attachment have stated,

I bought one of these about a year ago from Kogan for $439.00. At this stage I have only used it once when our 2nd fridge took a dive. I used it as a freezer set on minus 8 degrees and it worked perfectly for about 3 weeks.

Perhaps you should look at the Kings 60L one @ around $599 from 4WDsupacentre.

I am not aligned with the business just a satisfied customer.

We bought a "Waeco copy" (Indel) 50l fridge/freezer about 4 years ago for under $500 on Ebay - no problems despite heavy use, however if it ever failed I'd be dealing with the seller via my computer and probably not get anywhere and end up extremely disappointed.
My only comment is to buy it from someone who will deliver service...like Aldi, Bunnings or BCF etc with whom you just take the faulty unit in and it's "we'll look after that for you Sir". This gives you the reassurance that you need.

Good Luck.

It's much more expensive but it's quite a bit more fridge too and I feel compelled to give a plug for:

https://www.techniice.com/car-fridges/ss-fridge-60l-dual-6hdr.html

The importers have a brick and mortar building in Victoria and provide full warranty support for their product - a six year warranty!

I bought one 18 months ago and have bounced it around in the back of the 4WD in some very rough country. Being an electronics engineer I have, of course, measured and checked just about every aspect of its performance (as we do :) ) and am delighted with its performance.

It uses anywhere between 25Ah and 50Ah per day depending upon ambient temperature - fridge at +2C, freezer at -12C (the 50Ah was on a 35C day). Its temperature control is excellent and holds at around +/- 0.5C for both compartments.

The unit is well made and very sturdy and the remote control is far more useful than I expected it to be.

In my opinion this range is a worthy competitor to Engel and probably better quality than Waeco.

G'day Mike,  that looks like a far better class of Fridge / Freezer that you have there,

Mind you the price is way dearer than the Kogan version,

but if you say that it has stood up to the conditions that you described, it could be well worth looking at,

With such a long term warranty, they must have made this unit to last.

Thanks for your info, now all I have to do is gather a few coins together and maybe go with it.

Actually KJ it is still safely sitting out in the garden shed, as these days caravans are all gone and I'm sorry to say our traveling is limited to going to Woolies and maybe a trip down to Perth once or twice a year, when it becomes a beer fridge. The bottom line is I am quite happy with my KOMODO fridge. Sorry I probably should have said that at the start.

X2 for the Techniice have a (80l Dual) run fridge 0C freezer -15C for about 3yrs fulltime living in temps up to 40+C has never missed a beat ,came with 6yrs parts & labour warranty.
Originally had Engel would never have another one it always had problems in 30+C temps.
