Gold Coast Camping

Not really keen on staying in Caravan Parks being squashed and living in the neighbours lap, but the closest National Park I can find is about 45kl away, does anyone know of any places to stay closer to the Gold Coast we are planning on meeting up with our daughter in town for a few days in June.

For a couple of days in June (Off Peak if there is ever an OP at the Goldie) there should be plenty of space in the larger parks like our favorite, Tallebudgera.

I reckon that you would be better off spending a few dollars & maximising your time with your Daughter, rather than driving all the way to Canungra or wherever.

But then I'm usually a CP dweller & unlike some I can find some great spots at the Gold Coast.

ps. On Australia day we had a nice drive thru Canungra.  Looked in at the Showgrounds on the way up the mountain to O'Reillys (first time there in 15 years or so).  Still a great spot & dangerous road.  The showgrounds had lots of patrons but still some space around the ring but down the gully in the unpowered section it looked pretty crowded.  Much like a CP.

Late edit ...  SWMBO reminds me that there are some School holidays around that time ... will fill up the CPs.

Cupie is spot on you could spend a lot of money on fuel , Trying save a few dollars on a camp spot right on the spot where you need to be .

There are some really tiny private CPs on both Sunshine & Gold Coasts. Like parking in someone's back yard. Some of the parks in www.goldcoasttouristparks.com.au are reasonably priced and sized with food etc. within walking distance. Stayed at Broadwater last year and planning to stay at Jacob's Well next time. Stayed at Tallabudgera many years ago. Tons of room there.

Also agree that Cupie's comment is spot on.

Have a look at Jacobs Well. North of the coast but within a short drive of it all. Not sure what it is like now as I have not been their for a few years but lived their for a number of years and it is a nice spot. Park run by the council.

Nerang or Nambour, can't remember which one, central and easy to get into the coast.
