Water Police have confirmed the plane, believed to be a seaplane, crashed into the water about 5:10pm.
Crowds have gathered on the foreshore in the lead up to the traditional fireworks display.
It is understood firefighters are heading to the scene, and will prepare to board the stricken craft to extract people.
There are believed to be fatalities involved.
UPDATE; THE AUSTRALIA FIREWORKS IN PERTH, HAVE BEEN CANCELLED BECAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT.

Yes, it has been confirmed that the Pilot and a passenger have died as a result of this accident.
What a way to end this day !!!
