As at 8.45am on Thursday 26 January 2017 the Bureau of Meteorology advises a tropical low is approaching the northwest Kimberley coast and will move offshore later today.
The low will gradually strengthen and may develop into a tropical cyclone late Friday or during Saturday as it continues to track west southwest to the north of and parallel to the Pilbara coast.

The tropical low lies over open water well west of Broome and should continue tracking west southwest parallel to the Pilbara coast during Friday and Saturday. The tropical low should strengthen and is likely to reach tropical cyclone intensity later Friday or Saturday.
