Thanks

Helen

Kenilworth Showgrounds is $18 a night powered , It has great showers but not much in location but if your looking for a nice place to stay it has all the shops and a pub and a cheese factory, I prefer Maleny showground about $15 a night and also close to the coast and a great village .

We liked Kenilworth - lots of room & nice and quiet. Good price & the showers had good pressure.

stayed there about two years ago for 3 weeks, great spot, right next door is the public pool $3 entry including great showers after your swim. Good food at the pub and some great shops to wonder around. Within a short drive are some good tourist towns and not far from Noosa.

will be back next time we are up that way

Helen. I think its $15 unpowered. The deli in town has good food and great coffee. You can also walk to the Mary River. Dogs allowed. We like it. Check beforehand that there are no shows or events on though as it might be closed if there are.

If you like to free camp try the Little Yabba camping area on the Kennilworth/Maleny Road. This is where we stop when in the area. As I said free, clean mowed area, drop toilets but no showers. There's a BBQ and picnic tables. It's basically beside the river. Lovely nature walk across the bridge. I did write it up under Free/Budget camping further down in this forum if you wish to take a look. Having said that Kennilworth must be good as there's always campers there. I really like that whole area.

PS: When in the area even if not staying at Little Yabba, stop and go on the nature walk. Easy track.

Nope, no negatives at all. The Mary River is a short walk away (walk out main gate, turn right, then right at the laundromat, follow the road to the end) and is spectacular! The local pizza place does a good pizza ........... And the cheese factory is good too.

Is that the one known as Charlie Moreland camping area  The National Parks site says

"Imbil State Forest's Charlie Moreland camping area, on Sunday Creek Road, is accessible by conventional two-wheel-drive vehicles.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site."

No PeterD. It's not that one. If heading to Little Yabba from Kenilworth you pass the turnoff to Charlie Moreland on the right, go across the bridge and then Little Yabba is beside the road also on the right.

No it is road side rest area between the Bruce H'way & Kenilworth with a 24 time limit I believe. It is Camps Australia.

Drove into Kenilworth Showground camping grounds today for a look. A very popular place packed with grey nomads.
I was amazed it would be so bust in March.
I will be using it in future.
