When we go away with our boat & camp using our tent we sleep on good quality stretcher beds with single self inflating mattresses on top. They're almost as high as a normal bed & so comfy.

We have had our Eurobed for 2 years, very comfortable, used for visitors however they would be too unstable to stack one on top of the other I would think.

My camp stretcher is as heavy as lead but very stable. Because of its weight I rarely carry it when camping much preferring an old mattress in the back of the Patrol with all my gear in the tent.
Of course this will not probably suit your situation.
My only experience with blow ops was when I was in the Army Reserve (CMF) & they gave us inflatables for the first time. We all blew them up too high & those that didn't spring a leak squeaked all night. You could hear us from miles away going 'squeak' 'squeak' & 'mumble', mumble'. Soured me for life.
We have a coleman 2xdouble i think it gives us about 600ml much much better than 300 no dramas what soever........could still do with a bit more height but still much better than laying on the ground

make sure you insulate between the top sheet and the "mattress". Without a layer of something (we use a doona and a blanket under the sheet) you will either freeze or drown in sweat.

We have been down that road. We have a Queen size foam egg shell x 2 as well. I had a idea of placing a 1200 x 2100 x 7 mm ply sheet in between the two air beds to cushion the movement some. our backs are not getting any younger. I have used electric blankets in winter as well to keep the cold air at bay. Last trip We got a second hand mattress from the Opp Shop.
