Australia Day at Seabird WA

If any one wants to join us for Australia Day you will be most welcome. Looks like we will have  couple of GNs here so the more the merrier as the saying goes.  We can do bacon and eggs for breaky or go to one of the  local community breakfasts. Chuck some lamb chops on the barby for lunch. I am sure I can rustle up lamingtons and pavlova as well!!

Brickies - Sufil's place is their home - no cost (though there is a donation tin) - good bore water, outside loo, and a dump point - as well as guaranteed a great time with lovely people, and Sue would be one of the best cooks ever - her daughter makes amazing deserts, loves to have people around to try them out - her mulberry syrup is to die for!!!

Hi Brickies,
As Jules said we are just a private property with about 2 acres of cleared ground for people to park on and are happy to have vanners come and stay be it a night or a few weeks. We have an undercover area with a kitchen and a TV that visitors are welcome to use.
We try and have at least one big get together each year (usually around Sept/Oct) for no other reason than we can!! We are 12 kms from both Guilderton and Seabird (both of which are on the coast). We spent a lot of time over the years wandering around with caravans (with the occasional campervan or tent added in as well) and this is just a payback for all the times we parked in peoples yards and paddocks over the years!! If you are ever on this side of Oz do call in.

Just bumping this up if anyone would like to join us be it for brekky, lunch or staying over for a night or three.
There are a couple of local community breakfasts happening around the district but we have decided that we will do bacon and egg rolls here.
Morning tea will be scones and lamingtons...saw some fairy bread lamingtons yesterday so may have to do a batch of those as well!!
Lunch will be a bbq and oven cooked damper (cos we cant have a fire to cook it in)
Happy hour nibbles BYO Drinks and if anyone is still hungry it is get your own!!
That sounds Ozzie day enough for me.

We had a great day. MissGuided ( aka Brett and Paula)arrived at 7 am followed closely by Sir Wombat and his lovely lady Jen. Len was already here. After greetings and introductions it was time for a coffee. Late brekky of bacon and egg rolls and suddenly it was 11am!! Brett and Paula headed off for a swim and we retired to the fan and aircon.BBQ lunch around 2 pm and again another 2 hours passed before we knew it. Brett and Paula headed of for another swim and the Wombies headed home. AND despite our good intentions and being on our best behaviour the conversations all started very nicely and intellectually and ended up under the table again!!

Had to laugh at that last bit Sue - why do we always end up talking "under the table"? Glad you had a good day - we had a fair bit of rain here, lots of people, including a young group - but all was quiet by 10pm!

Lovely day today - woke to sunshine!

See you later - hi to Tracey and Phil - and to Len - when is he back on the road?

Ji Jules..Hot again today but only mid 30s (unlike yesterdays mid 40s!!).Another hottie forecast for tomorrow to be followed by storms on Sunday. Our weather is a bit like Melbourne where they get 4 seasons in a day at least ours is spread over the week!! Brett and Paula have gone to check out Guilderton and have another swim. Len heads off south on Tuesday and we are off the following week for a couple of weeks.

Have a good trip Sue & Phil sorry I missed it. All go here with the Wedding the day before. Nothing like an outdoor Wedding in 40 deg. heat. All went well with only a few hiccups. Off on a Hubby based holiday on Sunday for some much needed R&R.
Hopefully will catch up with you sometime in the not to distant future.

Thanks to Tracey, Sue and Phil for your warm and welcoming hospitality.  Was lovely to meet you, Len and the Womblies, and to share some stories and learn some travel tips.  It was great to have the opportunity to take MissGuided for a short trip and to test our Jimny on the beach.  We had a lovely time.  Hope to see you see you in the future. Hunny is worn out and says thanks for the adventure. And would love your pickled veggie recipe.

Thanks again,

Mick,

suggest you read the "Seabird get together - read this" and the "Seabird cancelled" threads just below.

Sue had a major health scare just before the get together earlier this year, and is still not very well, and as I understand it undergoing intensive rehabilitation.

Others will have more information than I, but I suggest events at Seabird are off the calendar for some time.

Sorry  i did read Seabird get together and Seabird cancelled threads and was aware of how serious things are and only related to OZ day 2017.

I hope Sue is doing ok.

Cheers

Went to see Sue and Phil (sufil) the other day - they are both looking well, Sue has some issues with short term memory, and the part of her brain that lets her eyes understand what she is looking at, hopefully this will improve in time, as will the memory. Phil is taking great care of her, and he is doing well, also.

As Jules mentioned above, both Sue and Phil are looking fine and in good spirits, and Phil is doing a fine job as 'house husband'. Hopefully time and Mother Nature can repair the memory and sight problems.

Joe
