The current temperature here in Perth at 12.10 pm is 41.8 Deg C and it's still climbing.
We were disturbed a couple of hours back , by the wail of fire trucks racing past the door,
Upon looking out the front door I got a hell of a shock, smoke everywhere, some mongrel at torched a vacant block of heavy Bush only one street away from our house,
I closed the door, then checked on the Emergency Warnings on the Computer,,,,,,,,,
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
Firefighters are on the scene and actively fighting the fire.
40 career firefighters are attending.
EXTRA INFORMATION:
The fire was reported at 09:51 AM on 4 January 2017.
The cause of the fire is suspicious/deliberately lit.
People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Police Crime Stoppers
Within 10 minutes of this fire, there was another report of a fire, not 1km away,
this second fire was right behind our local Fire Station, my guess is that fire was also deliberately lit. knowing that the Fire Station was unmanned , as all units were at the fire near our house .
Latest news is that the fires are now contained but not controlled. '
With the temp fast reaching 42 Deg C and could go higher, the last thing the Firies want is to be fighting fires in this heat, !!!
CORRECTION,,, TEMP IN PERTH IS NOW 42.8 DegC ( still climbing )
Here in the (inland) South West its just as bad. Bunbury had a sea breeze when I was there earlier today but everywhere inland is scorching hot & over 40. 41 was the highest recorded in my car. The pool is the only place to be today!
A few years ago we were looking at houses for sale and we came across a firebug at work, I quickly rang 000 to report the fire that ensued. The operator kept me on the line verifying my mobile number and wanting to know how I would know about the fire as my address they had on their books was Darwin. I explained that obviously I had moved, she then set about updating their records never once asking the location of the fire, I gave up in disgust. 30 minutes later we heard the sirens, someone else had apparently reported the fire. Because of this stupid operator the firebug got away and the fire quickly took a hold of the surrounding bush. I sincerely hope I never need emergency services. This is not the first time I have been blown away by emergency services strange attitude, no wonder firebugs and the like are difficult to catch!
I think there must be some good people on 000 but have talked to 2 nurses who worked at abattoirs, they have never dealt with a good one. Last year my husband had a massive heart attack, breathing and heart stopped 4 times before ambos arrived. Daughter was doing CPR, I was trying to look after a 2 and 4 year old who kept running onto the road, as it was a house she was moving into the next day and gate wouldn't close. He hit his head and there was blood everywhere. 000 guy asked me the phone number and address 5 times, kept telling me I had to be with the patient in the back yard to keep him updated, THEN he wanted daughter to stop CPR and talk to him. OH has recovered very well, specialist and ambos told him he was a 5% as that's how many people survive such a severe attack.
