Laratinga Wetlands

Hi There.  Should you be visiting SA  and wishing to spend time in the hills in such places as Hahndorf, can I recommend to you all the wetlands at Mt Barker.  There is parking available for big rigs and a caravan or two.   This wetland  has a wonderful array of birdlife and provides a very pleasant walk.  The  wetland is used to clean storm and effluent water and then sold by council to irrigators and the Kanmantoo mine. It is a great use of resources.

The Laratinga Wetlands, constructed in 1999, is a wetland located in Mount Barker, South Australia. It is named after the Aboriginal Peramangk peoples' name for the Mount Barker Creek, "Laratinga".

The wetlands occupy an area of 16.7 hectares (41 acres), of which 10.7 hectares (26 acres) is underwater.  Copied from Wikipedia

Yes, we live a stone's throw away from it, and it is very underrated. Now with the new freeway on/off ramps, it makes it accessible with out having to go through the centre of Mount Barker!
