After having a Coromal seka for 16 years I have just purchased a 2016 Jindabyne with shower & toilet. I have not used it yet or loaded it. The agent said that it had a towball weight of 135kg. I weighed it empty and it came to 165kg.I rang George Day Caravans & they said that it is listed to havebetween 145 & 150 kg .but the weight is taken before the water & gas bottles are added.Icannot see how you can use the van WITHOUT water or Gas.
Seeing as how 80 percent of the storage weight is in front of the axel.I am a bit perturbed at what the operating weight is going to be on the Tow Ball.
Has anyone had any experience with one of these rigs?
We had a similar experience with our Avan Erin Mk 2. We travel with a basically empty front boot to reduce ball weight.
Our van has a front kitchen. The gear that should be in the boot is stowed down each side of the rear mounted double bed & in the tub of our Nissan Navara while traveling.
It's all a balancing act. We've got used to this system over the past 4+ years.

How did you weigh the ball weight? If you used a weighbridge and subtracted the wheel weight from total weight then your results are within acceptable error. Those weigh bridges are designed for weighing large loads and most are only calibrated in 20 kg steps. The best way to weigh the ball weight is with a ball weight gauge that has not been abused.

Peter I have weighed the van accurately and have done this numerous times with the old van & also had it over the weighbridge.
I am trying to find someone who has a 2016 Jindabyne to find out their experience. There is nothing in the van other than what is supplied, but when I load it most of the storage space is in front of the axel & it will go from 165kg.to who knows. And I don't find that acceptable.
