getting water in tank in Jayco Discovery 2008

Hi,

We are on our 2nd caravan the old one being a 1993 Coromal which we sold last year.  New one Jayco Discovery 2008 looks good until we realised that old water connection has changed and is inside little locked door.  So far, so good, but how do we get the water in???  connection seems to go uphill, are we missing something, or are we really dumb?????

Hi.

Several ways.

One.
Just connect waterhose to any one way inlet hose connection round van.

Normally near kitchen area to give mains pressure to kitchen taps.
Leave tap on in sink. when water incoming
you full.

Another.(I have too) with those locked inlets.
They normally quite large, entering. with just a little 1\2in ish outlet to tank line.

I have a brass hose coupling with 15ish inches of 1\2 in water hose.
Open end cut at a taper.
Stick in inlet point on side of van.
. wriggle round ?(a torch helps first coupla times)
till taper slides into small outlet end and pipe.. Push down a bit.
Tap. ON.
When it pours out past your hose. Or out the kitchen tap you left on.

Full.

I have both.
All depending on whether you want to kneel or not.

There are other ways but these nice and simple.

I would suggest this.

On Jayco, there should be 2 inlets in behind that door.

One that looks like a hose connection, and is the connection for the mains pressure in the van. Connect to that, turn on the hose, and you will have pressure water at the sinks. As you say, this looks like it points the water uphill.

There should also be a covered "hole", with a plastic cover. Take cover off and that is inlet to tank. To get water in, I have found it easier to push hose into inlet for about 40 cms, as that allows air out without forcing out water.

Hope that helps.
