we were wondering if anyone has used one of those companion mini evaporative cooling systems? What are they like in terms of cooling? Are they noisy? only have a small van and just need something for the nights, any other rechargeable suggestions?
I looked at them last year when they were $99 now $128 from vic supplier on ebay.
But if I was buying one would probably look at the Transcool model sold in Oz for $299 , but do not know about the additional water tank cost but would set it up to have ice blocks etc in the external tank.
To me they are still a bit noisy, but so what if it cools you down, but don't know about the build up in humidity. last web address is a test on the unit.
Note To me the Mighty Kool and the Transcool are very similar to the unit sold in Oz. BUT I may be wrong.
I have one of the mini models. In the coastal areas of qld they created a lot of humidity but a lot less in the drier western districts. The noise is a bit of a problem as you have to have it close to you to feel cool. my motor home was a 3.6 metre long living space. I will not buy another if this one fails.
To me nothing beats a roof top a/c or split system, I only looked at these units since we go to CMCA rallies and generators cannot be used for a/c. Or when parked in city streets for lunch on a hot day this and similar locations could be a potential use for these units. We also have the Sirocco 12v fans..
