Hi folks, just bought 2 of these Caframo Sirocco fans and are going fix them to the walls. Just wondering if any one has done it just using the adhesive tape provided or do they really need to be screwed to the wall?
I decided to fix my fans using small bolts as it was on the side of a cupboard so I had access to the inside to use bolts. I thought that the tape wouldn't stand up to the bumpy roads we have. Some of the potholes these days.
I know the double sided tape these days is pretty good but I went the screw/bolt way.
I put some rare earth magnets on the fan's mounting plates. Can now move the fans between Campervan and caravan, depending which RV is used as the portable house at the time. Campervan has several places to put the fans depending on which way I want the air to move. I did mount three metal plates under overhead cupboards in the caravan and of course, just putting the fan on the countertop is another option if they are not permanently affixed anywhere.

Semi-permanent state of being Recreationally Outraged as a defence against boredom during lockdown.
I screwed mine to small partition at end of bed but the partition is hollow and the fan makes a little more noise. I also changed the cable to slightly heavier cable. Works well apart from the noise I mentioned.

We personally didn't think the tape would hold on the roads that we travel. We decided against permanently mounting our fan and just put it on the counter at night or on the table during the day. We use a small piece of the non slip rubber under it which stops it moving at all.
We have three of these fans - and will maybe put another one in - near the bed - they are screwed to the walls, make very little noise - the great thing is the timer - we put it on for usually two hours - and are sound asleep by the time it goes off. Have spent a lot of money buying mounting tape - and no matter what brand, it is not meant for travelling, especially on sometimes dusty roads.

We have 2 pointing down on the bed permantently fixed to the ends of the cupboards on each side of the van. They will also swing around to point at the rest of the van.
They are hard wired 12 v so you are best to permantetly fix them anyway. I dont think double sided tape will last long due to heat and vibration. If they fall they are likely to break, wouldnt take much to damage them.
They are a good investment and work well, are quite, ours get used alot in hot weather, more than the aircon which is far noisier. We would recommend them or any similar brand.
