Power and gas

We have the option at the moment to connect to a off grid power system but I'm told that caravan hot water and fridges are power hungry. So, can I connect the power and still use gas for the fridge and hot water?

 Hi Collo

In general yes to your question, run the frig on gas, hot water on gas in most caravans you do have that option.

A gas/12V/240V fridge probably uses about 120W - 200W on 240V, depending on the model, and it is running a lot of the time.
The hot water system will probably use 750W - 800W on 240V while it is heating.
It depends on the particular off grid system whether that is excessive, or not and what other demands there are on it.

Cheers,
Peter

Gday Collo

When we are on the grid, the hot water system generally draws around 4 to 5 amps. The fridge around 1 to 2 amps.

Take care
