Parrys Beach Update

Others on here have written about Parry's Beach (near Denmark) but I thought I'd do an update, having just returned from 2 days there. The park is shady and protected from the wind and just a stone's throw from a beautiful beach. It's not suitable for larger vans due to overhanging trees. Sites are numbered, unpowered and each has its own firepit.  A generous wheelbarrow of wood is available from the caretaker for $5. (ready chopped) It is not allowed to throw washing water on site, but they have installed troughs  at central points throughout the park. The ablutions are spotlessly clean and include hot water (solar) and troughs for washing. The water is yellowish and ok for all purposes except drinking.  At the front of the park there is a lawn area with free stainless steel bbqs. Everything in the park is well-maintained by friendly volunteers.  Current cost is $15 and they don't take bookings so school hols are out. Max stay is 3 weeks. A great place for a few days away from it all or for ppl on the big lap to stop off and explore the Denmark, Walpole area.

Don't forget the aerogard!

Had an overnighter there last month, $15 two people.    They are allowing motorhomes and caravans who are too high for the height restrictions of 2.7 m to park on the gravel parking lot outside the main entry to the park, same price, short walk to the nearest showerand toilet block, extra solar panels have been fitted to both the front and rear camping area shower and toilet blocks.  Pets allowed on lead.   If over height, best to ring Denmark Shire first or drive in and speak to caretaker about outside parking.

Fishing is great off the rocks especially herring, but other varieties, trevally, bream, salmon etc etc.

If they salmon fishermen are active at east end of beach, they will sell you one (large) for $10 (previously $5) or if they are hauling their nets in on the beach and removing the fish a couple free if you give them a hand.

The camp is 20 kms west of Denmark on the Southern Highway, then about 5 kms towards the coast on a good bitumen road.

Can have the odd visitor from time to time but rarely, photo taken by Yeoeleven during his visit to the showers some time ago (tiger snake).
