Hi all. There is a lot of talk around about police checking vans. Plus I am heading off in ten days and wanted to check tyre pressure. Looked at compliance plate and I CAN NOT READ ANYTHING.. I have contacted Avan for the details. It will be interesting to see if I get a reply ? If anybody has a Ray 14 pop top with the relevant information I would appreciate it. Cheers. Col P
Police checking of vans appears to be a very rare occurrence and why they would pull a very small van over to check it would be even rarer.
There are many vans that are on the road that are probably not legal re weights and these would be more likely be the target for a check if one was to be carried out.
Cheers
David
Are tyre pressures on compliance plates? My van stuff is in my van manual. Cars & bikes are on stickers on the vehicle (not compliance plate) but are also on the tyre itself. My tyres on a 19ft single axle van is 50psi, but the 24ft dual axle version, it's 40psi. Not sure whether police check tyre pressure. Seen checking weight (vans & trailers), but not heard of pressure. Just make sure pressure is between the lower & upper as noted on the tyre itself.
My motorbikes run anything from 12 - 42 psi. I run 32-36 psi in my cars. Same pressure in all 4 tyres. You will know if the tyre is too tight as the car will bounce around. Got a car back from a service once. It was bouncing everywhere and braked terribly.Took only a few kms to realise something was wrong. Has 48psi all round.

Thanks. Yes the compliance plate has tyre pressure. Just can't read anything. Hopefully Avan will get back to me with the details on weights etc. Who knows what the cops would say IF they did weigh me. Maybe not because the van is small. Col P
