Armadale Road

Hi,

I would like to travel on the Armidale Road the Waterfall way and Grafton Road from Grafton to Armidale, so does anyone know if its a good road for a 8metre long Motorhome thanks. Is there any othere good route from Ballina to Armidale that might be easier... thanks

Hi, we have a 23ft motorhome - and we have done this road with no problems. A bit windy but not too bad.

At first it a easy drive then it goes  into a section with some slow corners but very well built road, then tge rest is back easy again.

One of the good drives from the coast up over the divide, lots of places to enjoy.

Water falls, Ebor Falls,

Fish farms

More water falls, Wollombombi Falls.

Some great look outs, eg Point lookout. Stixs River, Platypus Flat Forest drive, Nymboida River.

Turn left into Dorrigo, more things to see and do, eg national parks, water falls, look outs, coffee shops, great food.

I could go on for every. Its just a great area and a great drive.

One thing I would add to other comments is the advisory speed signs should be obeyed. Be aware that some of the windy bits should be taken with care and watch out for subsidence on the bends.

As previously advised . From Grafton to Nymboida is ok , all though sealed is ok Nymboida up to Clouds Ck,

Billys Ck , Dundurrabin & Tyringham is windy with a couple of 25kmh elbows , several more 35kmh other than that,

the road is being continually done up though . But the scenery Is Great , plenty of stops & Kodak moments And Watch out for the

occasional log truck up to clouds ck . I travel that road Regularly & would rather use it than th Pac hwy , it is 20k longer for me &

45min longer , to Berresfield , BUT , I enjoy the drive.

Have a Safe trip.

Thanks and what a great detailed reply ..... we recently drove over the range from Glenn Innes to Grafton on a terrible foggy rainy day, and we had travelled in from Moree ... that a windy but good road... This time we are travelling from Ballina to Melbourne

We do it frequently with 20ft van. No problems. Just heed the signs and enjoy the scenery.
