My first choice would be Gateway Grafton an excellent park with very reasonable prices last time we stayed it was $22 a night, don't know if there would be any availability for the festival.

Just had a look at their site and there appears to be availability for the festival at $25 per night
Cheers
David

Gateway Village is a great park................we are currently at the showground which is a little more primitive but very close to city centre, and quite relaxing. $23 a night or $140 a week.

There are some good coastal parks from Iluka to Corindi if you don't mind a small commute (< 1hr). Towing a big van across the bridge over the river from Sth Grafton to Grafton is a real experience.

From the turnoff from the Hwy to the showground which is over the bridge is about a 10min drive unless you're in peak hour (for school or work) then add another 5min.

hi lld, i am a bit worried about the bridge now. Do caravans go across it all the time? And is there somewhere to stay without going over the bridge. thanks

Over the bridge but honestly no problems getting over with vans, semi's do it all the time.

Just be careful on the bends of the bridge, take it slow and stop if another vehicle is coming towards you so you can swing wider. Saw someone last year who wrecked their awning struts. They had a terrific orchestra performance last year but tickets have to be booked well ahead, I was just lucky that someone could not go so I bought their ticket. Another was afternoon tea at the racecourse and tickets must be bought in advance. May be available online. Enjoy.

I cross the bridge a few times a week since I live in Grafton. Semi's often take up some of the opposite direction lane but most people know to wait if a larger vehicle needs the extra room. Up to a hundred  caravans would cross the bridge every day so you will be fine.

Cheers

I have been told that semitrailers are banned from crossing the bridge between 3-6pm??, not sure of the morning times????

Their is a camera on the sugar terminal in the railway yard to monitor trucks.

Someone may know more of the details.

Crossing the bridge with a caravan is not as bad as traveling the Pacific Highway with all the B doubles.

The bridge is a surprise first time but easy once you know what you are in for.
