A discount at parks for solo nomads?

A few weeks ago I found myself motoring through outback Queensland and booked in at a park at Cunnamulla (nice park).  From memory, the lady at the office said "that will be $30 per night - are there more than two people?"  I told her there was just me and she said "then it's only $25".  I had never thought about it much but this started me wondering... does anyone know of parks that charge less for just one - or should I always ask?  Five or six dollars won't break the bank, but if the discount is there...  ??

As they say Big Al. They can't shoot you for asking.

Hey Big Al - a lot of parks do have single prices - often not in "the season" - have got a lot of solo friends, and they always ask for a single price If they are staying in caravan parks. Thought I do know of a place who charged the "normal" fee of $25 unpowered to two solo's with small mh's- then told them to use the same site!!!!!! Bit cheeky.

I reckon you should always ask - I ask if they have seniors discount, or any other discounts - sometimes get one, sometimes not. Enjoy your travels!

Thanks for any replies given - as Dave48 said: no harm in asking. And flashing the handy Seniors Card could be a wise move too!

I always make it clear that it's just me. Sometimes you win...sometimes you don't. I mainly free camp anyways, so it's not a biggie for me. I think there should be a site fee then a per person fee. Because half price is not always fair to the park either, as it can still take as much to power my van with one or two people in it. Ie I don't run half a fridge or aircond. Just save a second shower etc.

I use a mix of caravan parks, showgrounds and free camps but if I am using a caravan park, I always ask whether they do a solo discount.
In most parks they don't...but sometimes I fluke on one that does. It never hurts to ask.
