Hi all, Yes - it is very strange. I have written to our Sparklit experts to see if they can shed some light on why it happens ... and hopefully they can fix the problem as well. I'll keep you all posted on this. Cindy
Appears to me that there is a double space between text where the ? marks appear in a line of text and that the return key has been pressed with no text then entered on that line where the ? appear below text. Could be wrong but worth checking.
My spell chequer dosen't work any more, wife ipad does the funny diamond after a operating system upgrade.
PS I'm livid, Windows the Bast--rds had done an upgrade on my windows 10, and when I thought I hade Edge home page sorted, I now have heaps of, I'll call it stuff to be polite in my face, and I don't seem to be able to remove it this time.
I'm thinking that those affected have recently had an operating system upgrade to their device of choice (PC, tablet, phone) and it is now using a character set that creates some strange characters that the Forum's software is unable to interpret, so it substitutes the black diamond question mark. I copied some of the affected posts above and pasted them into Windows Notepad (which also displayed the question mark), then tried to save them as a plain text file but got an error message saying the text contained Unicode characters. I could only save it if I selected Unicode encoding instead of ANSI. I'm still using Win 8.1 and haven't seen my posts affected. Would be interesting to know what devices/OS versions the affected posts are being submitted from.
Joe

Are you using "Edge" Dougwe, I finally found out how to have a home page clear of all that news and advertising trash, but my concern considering we have mobile internet, is, is all that trash downloaded each time I access the home page, whether I see it or not?
We get 8GB of data under or plan, and are currently nudging 15GB at $10 a GB when over, thankyou Mr windows and others.
Well I now have a pretty blue bird on the screen, and probably heaps of other stuff I won't use. Bring back an operating system on a disk like it used to be.
Still no spelling checker though.
I can see you still have double spacing or blank lines where the question marks are. You will need to fix this in your signature as well to get rid of them there.

Not so Joe. I'm getting them and have windows vista and 7 - both with automatic upgrades switched off and havn't upgraded either for at least a few weeks. Noticed that a post I did yesterday had the question mark diamonds :)
I noticed the questions marks appearing in everyone's posts including my own a few days ago since then I have read all the different suggestions from people about what may be causing them. I happened to be reading some old posts about road etiquette between RVs and semis dated sometime in 2014 and found that all those posts now had the same question marks - I may be wrong but I think that this more likely to be something to do with the programming than what people are doing when typing. I am using either an iMac or an iPad Pro with Safari as the web browser.

Spaces and lines with nothing on them is the problem. If you have these errors in your signature and in your text you will have ???
My Good Lady had a look at the issues this morning and confirmed the reason. In her past life she managed a Website for a National Professional Organization here in Canberra and was well aware of the problem.
