Grampians trip help?

gday all, we are off to the Grampians from Adelaide next week, so just looking for any previous experiences you may have had. The Lakeside Tourist park,Halls Gap looks good, even though a little out of town? We love to hike so 4-5 days here. Then maybe drop down to Glenelg River, Nelson. Any suggestion for stay or visit? Then wander back through Robe.  Thanks for any advice.

cheers. Steve.

Hi Lakeside Caravan Park is always our choice. There is a nice path into town if you want to walk or cycle in. As for walks there are so many good ones. From Venus Baths you can walk all the way to the Pinnacles for a spectacular view of the area and passing other highlights as well. McKenzie Falls are beautiful and will be spectacular after all this rain. So many nice walks , just pick what appeals to you. We always stay at Kywong CP in Nelson and it has plenty of wildlife including many Kangaroos. Has been awhile sine we have been to Robe but it is another beautiful spot. Enjoy

We have stayed several time at the Big 4 Park Gate. A nice walk into the village and it is an excellent park.

Have a look at "Plantation Camp Ground" just Stawell side of Halls Gap. There last year and it was free.  Bit of a gravel road into it, but worth it.  Great location although we did have several well behaved school groups camp there during our stay.

Another one for lakeside , heated pool, clean amenities, personal wood fire half 200 ltr drum with legs for one off hire fee and an amazing kangaroo population that comes in at dusk and sleep around the place .....just don't park under any big gum trees unless you want bird droppings galore all over haha

There is also a free camp about halfway between Glenelg and Hallsgap.
