Let's take a trip

A trip?  On Monday Keith & i were walking along a footpath (paved with very nice pavers)in Bundaberg when I tripped on a paver that wasn't laid  flat &nd level with the others. I shot forward at great speed & landed heavily on my right knee. Keith  helpprd me up but I knew I had damagedmy knee so he took me to m emergency.  I saw the triage nurse (who sits behind plate glass & talks to you on a telephone.and can only see you from shouldrs up,  I explaine that I had fallen & hurt my knee.  I wasn't sure how badly as I had jeans on.  Wellshe kept me standing there for ages while she fiddled wih her computterm c hatted to other nurse, thenback on the computer.   Eventually she called in & it was only then I realised I was bleeding profusely & the front of my jeans was soaked with blood.  I got quicker service when she saw this. Well I didn't break any bones but my knee was ripped open down to the bone.  A gash about 3 inches deep by 5 inches long.  I wa given a tetanus shot & one of morphine,  Then a doctor , using a very long needle injected novacaine all rhrough the knee, some injections quite painful.  Just as well I had Keith's hand to dig my fingernails into..  It was decided that my knee would be repaired in surgery under a general anaesthesia the next day  (yesterday)& the wound would  be kept open with a sterile dressing to cover it until then.  Yesterday am off I went to surgery & knee repaired.  I was kept in hospital another night & got out today. So far no pain as while I was in surgery they injected some magic pain killer into a nerve in my thigh.  Hasn't worn off & its over 24 hours.  Chemo has been cancelled for Friday as it may interfere with the wound healing.  So folks who's picking on me  I'm getting a bit fed up  Alice

Are you still house sitting out at Bucca? If I can get a couple of days where I'm well enough will take a trip up to see you and a couple of others in the area.

Geez Alice, this year is one you'll want to forget! I'm sure you'll take this in your stride (no pun intended) like the other setbacks. Hope to meet you both out in the playground one day.

Cheers
Joe

Marj We will be at Bucca until late in November. Be nice to see you. Hope you are feeling a bit better. Thanks to all for good wishes. Had an appointment with GP today - Funny as app was to get form signed to allow me to keep driving - over 75 yearly thing. Got form done ok but of course I can't drive now for a few weeks. Not allowed to bend knee. Reards to all Alice
