We liked Clare CP.  Annes Lane is just down the road & there are lots more in the area.  I spent a fair bit of time on my pushbike going between wineries on the old railway track, now bike track ... Pare of The Riesling Trail.

Then we head south to the excellent CP at McLaren Vale.  Vineyard just over the fence & fantastic Reds all round the area.  They have an first class Winery Info Center on the way into town.

The choice is fantastic.

Hi Splott, hope the following helps you. Clare CP is a great spot to stay. Clean amenities, bike hire and a great camp kitchen with a log fire they light each night in winter. We like the area over the creek as it is a more natural setting rather than the central area which has the sites all lined up next to each other, you can request a site. There is the reisling trail across the road which is the old rail track turned into a bike trail. Easy riding. visit sevenhill winery, lovely old buildings, enjoy a platter or lunch at Paulette on the deck or visit the slightly more expensive Skillogalee Winery. Set in an old aust style cottage, lovely setting and exquisite food and wine. So many wineries to visit. We were there a few weeks ago and the country side was so green.

Also the mclaren vale area has great wineries and the CP is great. Bike trail to Wilunga is an easy ride. mclaren vale full has plenty of eateries and coffee shops. The area has so many wineries and a few breweries. It is only 10 min drive to the coast for beautiful beaches from Nourlunga to Wilunga beaches.

The Barossa is another good spot. Tanunda CP is good too. Lovely craft brewery across the road with great beer and food. There is a bike trail through the area but i have not ridden this one.

good luck in your travels,

chers Steve

I'm not too sure wine tasting and bike riding go together.

Wouldn't work for me anyway. biggrin

Many of the wineries have car parks big enough to pork a motor home of caravan in. Going that way allows you to load your spoils directly into your home.

All wines taste like sour vinegar to me. Always have.
A good Port though
MMMMM.
Nowadays it's Single malts. and a very nice cheap blend from Scotland.does me.

Mate has a little vinyard down outside of McLAren Vale. His grapes go to Hardy's
and the American table wine market.
SO must be fairly good. Yukk.
His Shiraz Port ain't bad though after sitting in garage for another 5 yrs or so.

Best drink of all.

A fresh Squeezed Orange juice after an hr in fridge.
