My son in Melb has just advised me that when he took my van to be put in storage he noticed a musty odour The van has been closed up for about 18 months
I don't return from Thailand for 3 weeks any suggestions on what I can do as I will be living in it permanently in 5 weeks
I would leave doors open for a few days if possible then get a couple of 'Damprid' tubs and sit inside once in storage. Divide van into 3 and place one at each divider. I would, if possible check them again between now and your return and replace with new ones.
When you get the van on your return leave air out as much as possible. It's probably just the winter air and being closed up for so long. Give it a good clean inside and wash any loose items like bedding etc on your return. I would also put the mattress out in the sun for a day when possible. The 'Damprid' gets rid of most if not all moisture in the air that more than likely is causing that "Musty Odour".
Hope it all works out for you Ron.
PS...make sure you put the mattress out hidden away or someone might think you had an accident :)
Keep safe on the roads and out there.

Thanks Dougwe great advice Do you get the damprid from a Rv place or Bunnings Yes with the mattress good idea hmmmmm I'm getting to that age aha aha Cheers Ron
There must be water leaking in or you have something going off in there . We had a potato fall behind lounge . Oh my goodness a rotten potato smells like week old road kill !!
A solar fan or some sort of forced air extraction ? Check all water tanks .. Pipes for leaks ? We spray with Glen20'before locking up. A box of bicarbonate soda in fridge ..
if you have a toilet, did you take out the cassette before leaving the van?
Even though you no doubt cleaned it (if you have one) they do go mouldy when not regularly rinsed. Best taken right of van and properly cleaned and leaving dry after spraying the rubbers with olive oil or leave filled up with a bottle of disinfectant and water and the rubbers sprayed (which I do).

Nilodor is worth a shot available most supermarket or chemist warehouse
Nilodor is a great product, but only gets rid of smell, not the reason for the smell. Sounds like moisture in the van, I recommend Damp Rid or other similar product like Closet Camel etc, available in most supermarkets.
