The river is up but not sure it is that high yet. In the marina it is up to the board walks for people to get onto their house boats so soon will be walking in water. Might go and have a look and see how high it really is.

We have been flooded in here in Northern Vic for days now. The roads are only just starting to re-open. My Daughter lives up near Barooga, she told me she has never seen the river so high. If what has been happening in our area this week is any indication. This would not be an exaggeration. It is probably a good idea to steer clear of our Northern Vic rivers for a couple of weeks. Also check Vic roads for closed roads around the area. There are plenty of them!

Heard today of a couple who have a permanent van at Corowa - they got the message to get up there and move it - trouble is it has an attached solid annexe, AND the lady of the house kept hitting her leg on the drawbar of the van - so after much backward and forward, the husband cut it off!!!!! Should be an interesting exercise!

That sure would have made it difficult for her to walk out of there in a hurry! :)

Years ago went to Cobram/Barooga for the weekend - Saturday AM driving into Barooga called in at Thompsons Beach, drove down and around the area by the river - next day at lunch time - could not get halfway down the road for the water - she comes up big and fast that mighty Murray!

My thoughts are with anyone whose property is threatened by floods- hope everyone is ok.

We were in a Moama park in 1993 when we had to move out fast .The water rose to a level 3.5 mtrs above our ground level thats 12 feet in proper lingo .We waited 7 weeks before we could return . We had to leave 4 times in the 34 years we stayed. The Ins co now tells all mobile home owners to leave them in place as they are not insured when left in a paddock etc !

That would have been about the time we were at Barooga, John - it was over the toilet block in Echuca, near the paddle steamer pick up.

I was on the river at that time. Camped at Burkes Bend at Cobbrawonga. Our camp was fine but we couldn't get out of there for a week because there is a bit of backwater that had flooded the track. We had a lot of rain but it was when they let the water go from the weir that things got very soggy. I have seen a lot of campers over the years, who insist on camping on the low banks near the water ,who have woken up to find their gazebo's etc out in the water. You gotta love the "Mighty" Murray! You also have to treat it with a bit of respect. Thompsons beach always goes under.
