I am a relative new member and like most, was a lurker for a long time before I actually joined. Because I wasn't "out there" travelling I felt that I wasn't eligible to join in. After reading a lot of posts and blogs, in particular Yeoeleven, I decided that I wanted to document not only my actual travels, but my commitment to travel. We don't just wake up one morning and decide to hit the road indefinitely. There is a lot of thought that goes into getting to that stage and that is what I wanted to include in "my story". Once I put an actual date on my intended travel, I felt I had a legitimate sense of belonging in the Grey Nomad world. Whilst to many I might be seen as still in the "dreaming" stage, to me, my dreams are my reality and come 4th July 2020, I WILL be out there living the dream.

I am now counting down until D Day (Departure Day). 1389 days to go.

It's not about the Destination. It's not even about the Journey. It's about having the guts to go in the first place.

Hi all, Chris here, I have been blogging using Wordpress since March 2015. I have backdated my blog back to approx 17th June 2011 when Dianne and I took delivery of an Evergreen Ultima 5th Wheeler, 3 days after my 50th birthday. Some people buy a sportscar when they go a mid life crisis, I bought a 5th wheeler. Anyway I thought I should document my travels, while I can still remember them.

Well, have retired now so the blog will start to get up a head of steam now, will have the boring info about

what it takes to get it all done and dusted before we leave. I am glad I started doing this some time ago as its a big task

and to say it can get to you if you don't keep a stable head and just keep going, and see what will be at the end of all the

issues that will get in the way.

Only have 5 weeks till I hook up the van and move along the road so not much time left.

My husband and I have been cruising around this amazing country for 14 months with a camper trailer. We kind-of cheat, as I am working as we go, with accommodation provided We have managed to see an amazing amount of country, from Mt Isa to Tasmania. Hi, I have been posting links to our blog on this forum for a while now, but have realised that I'd never posted an introduction in this thread.

Time to make amends.

We are Cuppa & MrsTea, both now in our mid 60's & travelling full-time since mid 2017.

We also travelled around Australia in 2008/9 , completing a 45,000km figure 8 over 18 months in a 7 metre bus I converted to a motorhome

I began blogging way back in around 2001 to document the bus build & then the subsequent 'Big Trip'

A blogging hiatus followed during the years when we did what we had to do to make our dream of 'travelling without time limit' come to fruition.

Dedication to our dream finally paid off & we 'got back on the road' in 2017 which we accompanied with the beginning of a new blog & have been regularly adding to it ever since as we travel around this wonderful country slowly.

Access to the older blog can still be found via links in the early posts of our current blog 'A Nomadic Life'.

The older one may be of interest, but I think my writing & photographic skills have improved a bit since then making it look a little dated. It is what it is - our record of the best thing we had ever done & an ongoing repository of experiences of places that many still visit or aspire to visit on their 'Big Laps'.

Today our current blog also serves as our personal record, but I hope too that it manages to put our readers alongside us & to experience, at least in some small way, what we experience. Feedback suggests we often succeed in doing this - but judge for yourself.

A word of warning, our blog is unlike many where dramatic or glitzy headlines designed to attract are followed up with superficial 2 minute reads. That's for the commercialised blogs where the primary aim is to earn money per click, or to satisfy sponsors - the realm of the 'influencers'. That is a different world of blogging which is of no interest to us & will always remain so.

We hope you might give us a look, but more, we hope you will enjoy what you find & perhaps continue to be a part of the modest sized community who 'travel with us'.
