Get Ready Weekend: Blue Mountains residents urged to prepare for bushfire season now

More than 450 fire brigades across New South Wales have spent the weekend helping communities prepare for the upcoming bushfire season, with the Blue Mountains Bushfire Expo front and centre.

Sponsored by the Rural Fire Service (RFS), the two-day event in Springwood was timed to coincide with the Get Ready Weekend.

Focusing on the issues surrounding building in bushfire-prone areas, the event is in its third year; it was born from the devastation wrought by the 2013 fires that tore through the region.

"That fire resulted in the greatest amount of homes lost in the history of New South Wales to a single fire almost 200 homes lost," organiser Jacqueline Brinkman told.

Let's all hope there no more fires like the Blue Mountains fires of 2013

Take care this coming Bushfire Season People,

If you see smoke, ring 000 .............then get the hell out of there,, "QUICK SMART"

Cheers  K.J.
