Phoenix Nomad - after Barry Davidson

I posted earlier about the Phoenix Nomad.  There were some very positive replies, but all related to older Phoenix Nomad models that Barry Davidson built.

Does anyone on this forum own a Phoenix Nomad built around 2012, which is after Barry sold Phoenix Caravans?  I am interested to know if the new owners (Sunland) were building to the same quality.

The Phoenix website implies that the Nomad hasn't been built since 2013.

Thanks for any assistance.

Rex

There was another owner between Barry and Roy from Sunland. Suggest you talk to Roy about the in between owner.

Buy one of Barry's and upgrade it.

It'll be a lot cheaper than new.
and better than ANY new van you could buy.

the best real caravans on market at any size.

Them, and Evernew for the working man.

Ducking for covver................

G'day Rex,

We have a March 2011 Phoenix Nomad, built by Greg Rosenthal, who was the owner of Phoenix from about 2003 to August 2011 (don't hold me to these dates).
He unfortunately ceased trading in August 2011 and the name and some of the staff were acquired by Sunland.
We spend about 6 - 7 months a year in our c'van and, as avid (but not overly successful) gold prospectors, we spend a lot of time on rough dirt roads and away from c'van parks.
We are very happy with our c'van and the only problems we have had have been with the Vitrifrigo 230 litre compressor fridge ( replaced under warranty after 12 months) and a water leak caused when I broke the seal on one of the external LED's when trying to fit through a space that was obviously not wide enough. Neither of these were anything to do with the manufacturer.
The c'van was built to our floorplan design (Phoenix were the only ones who would do what we wanted) and they were very easy to deal with.
It is 8 metres from "A" frame to end of rear generator box and has a 2530kg Tare and 3350kg GVM (this may not be correct terminology but it has a load carrying capacity of 800kg.
We have yet to see any C'van that would entice us to part with our Phoenix.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Ian
