My friend Murray has a 36' Crusader and after six months went to the expense of getting an air suspension fifth Wheeler hitch. He reckons it gave both his F350 and the 5th wheeler a better ride. Soaked up the bumps and potholes much better. He also used electric brakes. The Crusader fifth wheeler weighed in at 80% of the Tug.
The 350 had the Cummins 7.3 Turbo intercooled diesel and he wanted to go up to the 10.1 litre new motor with a 25% saving on fuel consumption over the 7.3 litre. Her indoors said no. He's still working on that.
The Fifth wheeler was also air bagged for the suspension and the compressor was in the goose neck of the Fifth wheeler. It did the both the 350 hitch and the suspension
I have no technical knowledge to offer re parking, weights or tow capability for the Iveco and 5th wheeler.
I can let you know that you will have some difficulties in some parks with a unit 34 feet long. We are just coming to the end of a 4 month run around NW WA, and in some, not all parks, the length of our van (27 feet from ball hitch to spare tyre on rear) was an issue. That said we did find sites everywhere we went, but always advise van length before booking. We have also experienced issues in some parks in all other states as well, so it will be a need to call and check parks as you travel.
With respect to the door, the issue may be when sites have pads for annexes, as you will not be able to use the pad for that, as you will need to be on the other side when parked. It may also create an issue with those that don't like to have other vans looking straight into their awning area. It may also be that your 5th wheeler is right beside the van in the next site as you will often need to park on the opposite side of the site to the "normal" spec van. That may not make you popular with some, and may not suit yourselves either. That said, I don't think the door will cause any physical problems for you, more these type of neighbour issues.

I can speak with experience re the neighbour thing. I remember during September school hols down in Warrnambool , south west coast VIC. I was set up in a park and some nice person came in from the wrong way and set up with his door side facing my door side. It made feel very uncomfortable for sure. Thank goodness they left the following day. The park manager said or did nothing. I try and not stay in parks as much as I can.

I've often gone in wrong way, to save unhitching, (Availability of direction of travel
to save uncoupling).
and driven off next morn. \Just for convenience.
I find the ones with dogs. Kids. and loud music more annoying.

I see no reason why those who have a full Australian complied vehicle, should have to put up shades or other things because either imported vehicles, or people with compliant vans decide that for their own convenience they will come in against the flow, appear on sites near them.

Hi all I would like to get some help from somebody with an iveco towing a 5 th wheeler here is some info and a few questions
I am looking at a 5 th thats weight is 4500 full at 34 foot long
34ft 5th wheeler will be close to 4500kg, you will need to check weights carefully
I have a 50 c 17 single cab with 3400 tray.2014 model
An ideal vehicle to tow a 5th wheeler, make sure diff ratio is not wrong ratio to reverse into sites or start off on hill. Latest models can come with 8spd automatic.
my question is manly on the hitch should l look at the normal hitch like trucks use or a goose neck ?

at that weight should the 5 th have air brakes ?

You will have to check, a lot of older caravan parks are made for smaller vans
how hard is it to use one that's door is on the wrong side wouldnt it restrict were you can stay ?

Do your research before you buy not after. Understand all your weights. Don't trust the seller, weigh the van before you buy, preferably full of water, batteries and solar panels. You will be suprised how little weight you have left before being overloaded. The good thing about an Iveco Daily is the payload you can have behind the cab and in front of 5th wheeler.Check out my blog page below on weights.
If I upgraded my Colorado, I would seriously consider an Iveco Daily. Check out a couple more page links below. I would have a toolbox behind the cab, right to roofline and still have 1200mm from back of toolbox to centre of axle.
