We bought a Manutec sidewinder and loved it. The last couple of months it has become almost impossible to wind up so we have gone back to using the normal jockey wheel. Does any one have ideas or suggestions as to how we can fix it. Ta.
Just had a look at the Manutec web site. All their products just look like ordinary jockey wheel/stand products. You should have provided a link to your exact model. Open a reply with the Reply or Quote button on your original message, don't use the Quick Reply function if inserting a link. Type a heading for your link and highlight it with your mouse. Then use the chain link symbol up the top to insert your link.

Just came back from a shopping trip into Warwick. Noticed one in the window of a specialist machine and accessories shop so I had a quick look at it.
I noticed a grease nipple above the winding shaft. Have you been lubricating the jack with grease through this nipple? That may be some of the problem. The only way I could see of servicing it would be to start with taking the plastic end covers off the top. If the grease has hardened in the top you could try washing it through with kerosene and then renewing the grease via the grease nipple. If you want to pull it apart I suggest you may need circlip pliers to remove circlips or a pin punch to punch pins out of gears to allow the drive shaft to slide out.

yes, PeterD that is the one you described. I have rung Manutec in Adelaide and that is exactly what they told me to do. We have greased the shaft a couple of times previously so will have a go at washing it through with kero.
i am unable to carry out your next suggestion, so if you could advise what I need eg Engineer, mechanic etc who would be able to help me.
Manutec said exactly as you said re punch pins, circling pliers, but they were unable to advise as to where I could take the van for the repairs.

The above picture is a copy of the symbols in the section above where you type your type your message. It is not visible in the "Quick Reply," you must use the Quote or Reply button in a message to be able to view it. The link and the broken link are greyed out normally and only come to the fore when you are posting a link.
First of all you get the thing you are referring to up in a web page. You just keep clicking through a catalogue until you only have the particular item is the sole thing on the page. Then go to the message you are preparing and type an appropriate heading where you require it, highlight it with your cursor (you can't use hot keys to highlight it,) click on the underline symbol (top RH symbol in my picture) and then click on the link symbol. This will bring up a little box to paste you link address into.
Then go back to the page you are wanting to link to and copy its address. Go back to the message, paste the address into the pop-up box and click on insert. Hey presto, you should have a working link.
The broken link symbol is to remove a link if you don't want it or it does not work properly and you wish to edit it.
