Swimming hole out from Brookton WA

Hi All, I read quite sometime ago about a Natural swimming hole in large rocks, somewhere out from Brookton or Beverley, I can't find the posting of its location.

I wouldn't mind going and having a look if someone knows where it is, and can I tow the van in there or need to leave it in a Caravan Park close by.

Cheers

Perry

Hi Perry. Never heard of it - but if you find out where it is, I'd appreciate you letting me (all of us) know - so few swimming holes in WA and particularly Perth

There's one on the Dale River that is currently being cleaned up but it's not a rock hole just a sandy stretch along the river. Many towns in WA once had swimming holes like you describe but with the advent of town swimming pools they fell out of favour and were left to languish. You can still visit most of them but they are sad sites now, broken and rusted swings, maypoles and slides, remnants of shelters, the swimming holes themselves filled with rubbish. Sign of the times I guess.

I have found it !!!!

It is Gorge Rock , south east of Corrigin, looks good from what I can see, I will try to check it out in the next few weeks.

Hello Perry

I was at George Rock last year

There is a camp within walking distance, which has no facilities, except some shade

There was about half a dozen caravans in the camp when I stopped for lunch
I did not look at the swimming hole, as other travellers said that it was not suitable for swimming
Things may have changed about the swimming by now

If you are out that way, then about 50 / 60 or so kilometres to the South is the small town of Kulin
Kulin is trying hard to entice the Grey Nomads to visit
There is free 24 hour camping behind the toilet block, on the main road, with hot showers
There is also a shire caravan park which I never went to, but I am led to believe that it is now like a honorary system, where the visitor donates what they think it was worth

I have a friend who once lived in the Beverley area
The only water hole he knows of, is the one toglhot has mentioned, about 20 Ks from Beverley

Thanks Tony, I might go and check out Kulin, I like the little country towns.

Cheers
