I would be interested in hearing any views on the above gps. I have used the Hema explorer app but I really want a stand alone off road gps - currently I am leaning towards the VMS which is roughly $100 cheaper than the Hema
Hi, i have a VMS and i don't think there is any real difference in the mapping, but the after sales service and map up dates on the VMS needs some work. Very poor, slow and difficult to get done. I have been having trouble with the mapping card, hopefully all good know, but i am considering the change to HEMA.
I have a Hema 7 and find their support to be quick and helpful. The system can be a bit complicated at times with certain features, but the support guy (who also designed and "made" the Hema is very patient and will explain it simply for dummies like me to understand and fix/install

I have a Hema 7 Navigator and have to say that it is bloody complicated to learn how to use. I wrote my own manual as the one supplied was worse than useless. Happy to share it if this is possible on this site. You have to keep using it to remember how to and the 4 wheel drive section is far more difficult to use than the normal road GPS section. Why do they have to make things so damn hard to use? (PS: I am no IT moron either).

Thanks for all the responses - it seems to be a common thread that the Hema is extremely complicated to use. I had been told by a number friends that it was aweful to learn how to use it - just hoping the VMS is a bit easier
You got a Tablet.
Download a free copy of MUDMAPS and try them first. Then pay for full version if happy.
There are a few free ones too that are good.
Hema do a trial mapping too. I believe.
I can't see the point of buying the unit as well if you already have a Tablet. large GPS.

Hello Pradokakadudavid
I would just like to say, welcome to the forum
Although I am not an off roader, and have no use for fine detail maps I do thank you for your offer of supplying your manual, to any who wish to use it
