Hi. Has anybody had any experience with a Waeko 12v kettle ? I bought one cos I was told they were a good brand. They are useless in my mind. My system was fully charged when I popped on the kettle for a cuppa. 15 minutes later the kettle was just getting warm. I bought a kettle for my gas stove and problem fixed. At $57 they are a complete waste of money unless I am doing something wrong. NO MORE WAEKO PRODUCTS FOR ME.
Hi Colin, we bought one a few years ago and had the same problem when we pulled up at a rest area for a QUICK cuppa - no chance with that kettle! So, no you are not doing anything wrong.

Its the same with all 12 volt kettles. Not just one brand.
They take forever to boil and drain your batteries.
I bought one when I first started out, never used it when I found that out. Gave it away.
I met a traveller who had a 12 volt kettle secured to the passenger sidewall with Velcro straps.
He explained that when he was about half an hour from his destination he plugged it into the ciggy power point on the dash.
He claimed that over the years he had both a cheap, and then expensive 12 volt kettles, and found no difference, as he thought that the expensive one would have boiled the water quicker
He must have had everything down to a fine art.
He mentioned that it takes 27 minutes for the water to boil
Suggest you return it to the seller for a refund. Not fit for purpose.
I don't like your chances. This is a case of not doing your research and purchasing a product that would do what you require.
The power consumption is around 200 W (16 A x 12 V.) This compares with 1800 W for a mains powered jug. Also was it connected properly, the handbook says it should be connected to a circuit provide with 4 mm2 cable, the wiring in a motor vehicle does not meet this spec. You need to wire a separate connection to get full spec operation. It's only not fit for the purpose if it will not boil water in a time of 9 times you can boil water in a kitchen jug.
Just because you purchased the wrong item does not mean it does not fit the purpose it was designed to do.
