Hi, were just starting out and I'd like to buy hubby a BBQ for Father's Day. I have no idea where to start. Can anyone recommend a good BBQ that will fit in the front of our 25ft Jayco sterling? Maybe one with a hood. Thanks in advance.
I guess the obvious answer to that is the Webber Baby Q, and stand. That barbecue nearly ticks all the boxes. The main issue with barbecues, is that of being able to clean it. the baby Q strips down quite easily for cleaning, is light and compact.
Be aware there are two models of Baby Q, the main one sold at most retailers, does has a domed lid, but its not as domed, and does not have a temperature guage, as the one only sold only at Webber authorised outlets.
Webber Baby Q for me. Finally bought one last year, best thing I did. Takes a bit of getting used to but once you do its the best. Turn it on high for ten minutes to heat up, throw a steak on, put the lid down, have a couple of sips of red, turn steak, couple more sips of red and your done. Cooks the best roasts as well. Best to buy a full plate as well to cook the bacon and eggs.
Another Weber Baby Q fan here. Wouldn't leave home without it. Ooops, I'm always home:)
Just a little comment on the temp gauge. If you don't have one and turn the dial to high you get 300f +, good for steaks. If you put the control dial to halfway it gives you about 180f good for roasts. Works for me anyway.
Hendo, to save the extra weight of a hot plate I have one of those BBQ mats. I just cut it so there is about a 1.5inch gap all round and nothing sticks to it and works well. Just a quick clean, roll it up and all done, minus the extra weight. About $10 in the supermarket.
Happy Qing.
Keep safe on the roads and out there.

Just another comment on the B-Q, Webbers warranty service is the best there is, you do have to deal direct with Webber, but they handle any problem very quick, never struck any other company so quick.
Never had a warranty issue with the Ziggy so cannot comment.
Two factors helped me make the ziggy choice.
Lid folds back so it take up less storage room.
Higher heat output means you can use it like the Q with the lid down to do roasts etc on very low heat, or put the lid up to do normal BBQ, bacon/eggs etc.
Hi Lisa, we use a webber q like many, but we just used a table to put it on until recently. We bought a foldingstand made just for the webber,it is much more stable than the webq bought stand, folds to almost nothing and the webber sits on it when stored. We bought it from the last caravan and camping show we went to. You may want to consider this as well. cheers Steve.
A Companion Wok Burner stove in either single or double burner configuration has by far the largest heat output & weighs a fraction of the weight of a Weber.
If you need to cook a roast put a Coleman folding oven ( $65, light as a feather) on top of one of the burners. Cooks a crispy skinned size 15 roast chook in a jiffy along with fluffy roast spuds & vegies to boot.
Does gourmet pizzas in minutes.
Think outside the square & don't follow other sheeple.
