Leinster WA - what a great place!

We read about this caravan park in Wikicamps and it is a treasure. Leinster is a BHP town, sadly very quiet and seems to be winding down. The Supermarket is well stocked and there is a BP for fuel. They provide a lovely bushy caravan park, shady with concrete slabs, free washing machines and free dryers for $20 a vehicle. After travelling through red dirt it is a great place to stop have a rest and clean up. The max stay is 14 days. You can also eat in the Mess for $20. We plan to go tomorrow night. It sounds like a banquet. A fellow caravaner said it was like being on a cruise ship. Certainly worth putting on your 'recommended places to stay' list.

Spoken to many East Coasters travelling round the West in last few years. Appears that a lot doing the "big loop". Norseman, Kalgoorlie, Leinster (speak highly of), Mount Magnet then Perth via Geraldton or direct on Great Northern Hwy) and around the coast to Esperance and back to Norseman. Not actually doing Perth to Kalgoorlie.

Leinster was always a good place to have a rest, even when there was only the one bitumen road, from Leonora.

Back in the day, they only allowed visitors, and townspeople, to buy a meal on Friday evening, (if I remember correctly).

Perhaps it was because a lot of men in the single quarters, who were driving home for the weekend, did not wait around, for the meal

The place closed down for a while due to the nickel, and gold, price drop

Agree with all the above, but we found the female staff in the supermarket to be extremely rude. Other retailers were fine though.

The only thing to watch out for are the tree branches which in places can be fairly low hanging for an RV

We stopped off there a few years ago, had free washing machines then. We were there when the Leinster Cup was on. What a great day. It had everything, fashions on the field, bookies ring, mounting yard. The only thing it had they didn't want was the downpour, first rain they had for months, got so wet they cancelled the cup but it didn't stop people having fun
