Yes but there now is a fee , And that why you don't hear much about it anymore can't tell you the cost . Just did a google search of Isaac council $10 night no potable water for filling caravan and max 14 nights stay .

I believe it is $10 per night and a ranger comes around to collect.

If you only want one night give Waverly Creek rest area a try. On the Bruce Hwy 11 KM south of the St Lawrence turn off. Nice spot for a night only.

Hi Rocket that was one of the big problems with the locals at the time ,There was a water shortage in the town and local were up in arms about the RV coming use there fresh water which they they were paying for in their rates and the RV were coming in using their water and not paying anything , So the local got onto the council and the Isaac council acted , The Caravan park in Clairview had nothing to do about it there park was always full most time anyway .

On our last stay at this great (was a )  free camp, we departed and then drove around the small township, then having realised that we had failed to leave a donation we  pulled back in again and deposit money into the honesty box.

It appears to me that there must have been many of the 50 campers that were there at the time, may have or more than likely would / could have failed  to kick in some $$$ and now we have a range / caretaker ensuring that every one contributes.

Those free loaders who now spend that same 14 days there are up for $140.

I guess one gets what ones deserves for not honouring the camping rules.
