Lovely Place. Adels Grove, nearby is also worth a visit, as is the the camping [free] on the Gregory River at Gregory Downs.
You'd enjoy that part of the world Doug!!!

You could phone Adels Grove and ask the staff there about road conditions.

Suggest you go in via Gregory Downs - from Burke & Wills Roadhouse. 90kms unsealed - all sorts of non 4WD vehicles go in that way.

From Mt Isa, it is shorter to take the highway west, then the Thorntonia Road north to meet the Gregory-Camooweal Road. Turn right towards Gregory Downs, but then take the Riversleigh Road to the National Park and Adels Grove. This way involves more dirt and there are one or two wet fords, probably only about 20cms deep at this time of year.
