We are having a ball

Hi All,

We have been away for now one week, and bedding down the van down. We moved across to Telstra and having trouble working out how to use our iPads as key boards from our I phones. D Boss worked through it and as we get reception I will bring you our travels.

We got away last Friday at 12.45pm, our desternation Forbes NSW a 4.5hour drive away to stop over with our son. As he is sharing the house with two other teachers we free camped down by the lake. They have had a lot of water. A few days after leaving our son texted us, with a photo attached. An extra 60cm of water where we had parked.cry We used the shower for the very first time. Water water every where, the bottom of the shower door short by 25mm.cry Off to the big green shed to buy a 1mtr strip of shower weather strip to afix to the bottom of the door.

Day two a short run to Narrabri for the night. We parked up next to the caravan / car yard fence and went walkabout. The first Pub had $10 Roast Lamb dinners going and two open fires going. Shut the gate. The Diesel heater is a must and worth every penny. Used

Sunday was an early start to BrokenHill. The van is towing like a dream To date.  About 30 minutes this side of Willcania the weather front hit us and every other road user. We were down to 80kmph with the truck doing it hard. Other vans just pulled over to ride it out. Don't ask our fuel usage cause it just a no no.cry

At 10pm Lambie asked to put the pot on,Soooooo it use the parks power and boil the pot. BANG. Trips the circuit breakerconfuse

Tried every thing in the book to bring it back to life. It tripped the metre outside as well. I reset the pole and it was OK.

I took the jug, the toaster to the pole, all good. Must be the vans circuit breaker Or my 15amp cord. So I brought a replacement cord as my old one been 15 years young.

Still would not reset. So We cross the road to BrokenHill Caravans. They are booked out till 9th August.hmm

We call Jayco's customer help line. Sorry can't help if the above is booked up. Call a local sparkie and they will pay a maximum $200 reimbursement to us, without pre approval to fix.

I asked the parks management for their spakies number and knows his stuff. He's full.

Checked all power points. A ok. Still no power. Pulls the socket from the side of the van. The polarity inside the connection poor reading. So after redoing up to correct tension.............. Still Nothing.

Sooooooo I says the circuit breaker needs to be replaced. Yep and No. He turns off the lot and hits the Circuit breaker with a rubber handled screw driver so hard. Why did you do that ????

It either will break the fusion inside or we order in a new unit.$$$$$$.....????????

It worked. But you can only use one appliance at a time or you will be back to ZERO.no And back to Jayco We will go.

Now as Jayco Sydney said that the shower works and signed off on it before leaving ( Remember this is after all a new unused van till a few days ago.)

Well we can put the tug boat, rubber duck, and all the other toys in the recess, and Mr Jayco Its blocked with yet more of your $1 hose. The only way is to install a in line 12v pump and pressure hose to do the job right.

We now have three more doors that want to stay closed or open when they feel like it.

Soooooo now I'm ready with a 350g tube of Exstream liquid nails at the ready, and we have traveled 5km on gravel to get to million dollar view.

Don't you worry Jayco I will fix it myself as you Can't or just don't want to. Back to our trip.

Next stop Kimba SA. Highly recommended for overnight at the Sports ground in Nth Terrace. Turn at the White Wheat Silo's and follow your nose to the end of the street $1 Showers = 2-3mins + Gold coin donation. Fill your water tanks for your trip across to the West.*****rating from us.

Next stop Flowers Bay SA for a feed of Fush and Chups. $30 per night for two x 2 nights.

I like FBay and will one day return with the boat. ( Lots of planning for this trip.)

We are now stopped 10km East of Euchla over looking the beaches for a few days to catch some fresh KG whiting for Bruce & Bev.

We have met a lot of nice folks along the way. Last night we unloaded the FW basket of Mally and had the neigbor's over for drinks and then had our first camp oven roast. We had 25deg here yesterday and a low of 13deg over night. You work it out.

Ah life is now all good Once more.

warm regards to all,

Jim & Lambie

Enjoy your trip - don't stress the things that go wrong - unless they stop you travelling - it is all an experience. We had the same problem with the shower door, got plastic strip and attached to the bottom - works a treat. I think some of the power outlets in CP's are not 15amp (I'm not at all technical), but have found we can only use minimum power at a once - il.e. kettle, but not kettle and toaster - anything with an element seems to be a problem. We have actually purchased a two burner electric hotplate, plugs into power, for when we are in CP's or showgrounds, use that instead of gas, we are paying for electricity, so why not use it.

Enjoy your travels - say g'day to Bruce and Bev for us!

Well done Jim, you are both enjoying the fruits of your labour now. Take care when you get into the 'Wild West'. I have spoken to my head brave and he to the rest of the braves mate, they are going to keep away from you both.

Great to read Jim. You seem to be setting a cracking pace though. Are there no roses in western NSW/SA?
