Do you happen to have a name or a link so we can get a look at what you are talking about?

I was looking at this site the other day but haven't gone beyond reading the blurb.

I didn't supply a link as there are so many of them and didn't want the thread to be about one particular manufacturer.

Conceptually however I think these will be commonplace quite soon.

Longer remote stays, cleaner water yeah a great concept now they just need to be affordable.

The idea sounds great but the one in the link provided only provides 1.5lt a day. The cost? involved doesn't seem worth it to me. IMO.

I have vague recollections of a system based on  large pyramid shaped structures filled with some sort of 'fibre' or whatever.

Not very practical for caravanners but perhaps OK for remote dry bush camps.  Of course they would not be vandalised would they?

The smaller unit at that link weighs 120lb, about 55kg and produces 1.5l in optimum sunny conditions with at least 8 hours of full sun per day. Not exactly an efficient use of weight for somebody travelling with a van, you would be far better to carry extra water. Its made for permanent setup in very remote conditions.

Thus why I didn't supply a link... There are units available already, just need to look around.

I could probably live on the condensation in my van!
