Pretty pricey most places in Cairns - but there is Rocky Creek, on the way to Atherton - good spot - few others but, a bit further north I think. Fishery Falls Caravan Park is not too far out, and from what I have been told reasonably priced. Enjoy your time in Cairns, I lived there when I was seven - changed a lot since those days.

When you are coming down - a fantastic spot is called Boulder Creek - just north of Mackay - pull in on the right at Caden, 18k down the road, a beautiful pristine spot, with drinkable water straight from the mountain, before the little bridge - over the bridge get water for washing etc., and about 50 or so metres down the track beside the river is a spectacular waterhole to swim in - highly recommend - we went for one night - stayed 5!

If you don't to be in cairns but want to be in the area , Walkamin central caravan park about 15 minute from Atherton and 12 minutes from Mareeba is a great caravan park and great base to tour the atherton Tablelands ,Cairns and Kuranda

$63 per night but it has to be said, this is no ordinary caravan park, it is a true resort with the lot.

as a matter of fact, my son in law and family was here for the school holidays and commented that this was the best caravan park that he had ever seen...hard to disagree with that.

Last time we went near that beachfront holiday camp,
we said no to $30 a night. and went to a freebie up the road.

What's the point. it's Motel prices.
No point dragging your bed round with you

That's not caravanning.

There's a Coconut Resort in both Cairns and Mission Beach, They are owned by members of the same family. The Mission Beach one is opposite the beach.

I've personally stayed at Fishery Falls and recommend it. Another popular one is Crystal Cascades but I have no personal experience with it.

For the Tablelands I recommend Walkamin. It's one of my favourite sneak away for a weekend parks on the tablelands when I'm not bush camping.
