Just north of Warwick not too far off the Highway there is a place called Clifton.  The Showgrounds are Cheap and power available. Just pay your money at the local Council office. Not the greatest shower facilities but adequate and clean. Couple of decent cafes in town.

There is also a place called Allora on the Highway just between Warwick and Clifton. PJ Travis(Author of Mary Poppins) was raised in town and her old house was supposed to be a museum and B&B. Not sure if that eventuated.

Hope you have a good trip.

The freeby at Allora is a 24 hour job (or used to be.)

Are you wanting a cheap spot out of town or do you want to be in town? For in town, Kahlers Big 4 (New England Hwy, sth side) is the one we have used in the past but the one behind the Matilda service station on the north side is good. Just steer clear of Rose City CP.

About 2 years ago, stayed down the track at Stanthorpe Showgrounds. Caretaker told me they might be closing it down because of pressure from local Caravan Parks. So can't tell you if still open. Powered site was $25.00 from memory..I also recall a free truck stop just south of Warwick. A bit noisy though..

The 2 mentioned by Peter D are/were ok , although over 10yrs since I stayed at either. These are both on the Highway.

There is also Lake Leslie , about 10/15k west of town.

The Stanthorpe showground is only open for special events not just a drop in camp spot

How long is a piece of sting. The answer is endless.

In a early reply I gave you a couple of places, I don't believe there is any magical camp site we keep hidden from the travelling public, what you need is a couple of good area of infor.

One being Wiki Camps on your Android Tablet or in book form a Camps Book.

3 or 4 years ago there was a lot of secrete camp spots but no longer, internet puts it out there.

The Jumpers and Jazz festival started in Warwick today and goes to the 31st. Have a good look around at the knitted jumpers on trees, poles etc. etc. I don't know if this will impact on accommodation spots.

It sure does. If you want a park in town I suggest you book now if you want to go there during the event.
