We are thinking of travelling in our motorhome from Ballina to Warwick via Bently Road, and then on to Noosa with as much country quiet driving as we can. We are not sure if the Bently Road section is suitable ... Has anyone gone that way, and where are there some good places to stop...

Never hear of Bently Road, but have just returned from travelling from Ballina to Warwick & Toowoomba via Summerland Way which you would access via Lismore & Kyogle to Woodenbong then to the border.....the road from Woodenbong to the Border is problematic with sections not good but then you find a long section that has been upgraded and is fine. Just slow down and take your time and all will be well...and yes it is quiet.

Ballina to Kyogle is fine via Bently Road, that road out of Lismore has short climb over a small range pass the school to the Summerland Way, narrow but fine.
Kyogle to Woodenbong very scenic rural drive, from here to Warwick some of it is real good travelling but other parts a bit how you do, slow down enjoy the scenery and experience.
Warwick, Toowoomba is good as most roads to Noosa via Yarraman, kilcoy Beerwah then up the Highwat to Noosa, that part would ordinary.
Look at Hampton to Esk via Somerset Dam to Kilcoy. Good overnighter rest area on your right not to far out of Hampton.
If you were looking at a longer drive to Noosa try Cooyar turning left to either Nanango or Kingaroy these roads are easy. Then Wide Bay Highway to Gympie down to Noosa.
These main roads are all resonnally, good though rural vista's.
For good places to stop. This list could get very long. We use Wikicamps on our computer system, have Camps 6 book. It pretty good to go by.
For an overnighter, Kyogle Showground, Noby at the railway yard and has a great pub.
For longer stays Hampton C/P. Somerset Dam Camping. Kenniworth Showgrounds and cheese factory. Murgon has some good options.
This list is only short but there is lots of option depending on what you stop and look at, how far you drive for the day, we did parts of these tour in last 3 years at different times doing only 200ks for the day stopping in free or donation camp areas hardly using a main road with our caravan, very enjoyable. Just love the South East Queensland and Northern NSW border country.
Thanks for your great replies. We have a 8 metre long motorhome, and are very new to all of this. Your replies are very helpful, and we have a Camps 8 book to take along with us. I am now going to mark all your information in there. THANKS !!!!!

Kyogle camp is in the showground, not at a pub. Nobby the free camp is across the road from the pub. Nobby is west of the New England Highway south of Toowoomba. [Two B`s in Nobby]
Perhaps that is why you got lost.
Their is another free 24 hr stay at Federation Park south of Toowoomba on the Drayton connection road. This park was closed to overnight stays but is open again.
It was listed in the older Camps Australia wide, not in Camps 8.
The best road to travel from Toowoomba to Esk is via the Highway to Gatton then to Esk.

Thats right, so thanks again. What Pub is that, as there seems to be more than one in Kyogle.
Is there a sign which says Nobby, or is it a Park ?
