Gin Gin Queensland. Caravan Parks?

On the road somewhere, a chap told me he and his wife had stayed a night at a caravan park in Gin Gin, Queensland. He said it was back of a hotel and reasonably priced. Can anyone provide me with any information; also anything about other caravan parks at Gin Gin. Expect to be travelling through and staying one night. Gin Gin looks a likely stopping distance in our travels. Thank you in anticipation.

How, Kev,

If you just want one night and can survive without 240v, there is a great free camp on the north side and just at the edge of town. Great spot. Can't miss it. If you want longer, give the Gin Gin show ground a go, also a great spot and very friendly caretakers.

Check the comments in Wikicamps and the pics. It will also have comments about the caravan park that I don't think are inviting at all. Also my April or May update, here in the 'general' section will have information about Gin Gin.

Keep safe on the roads.

Edit.....Oooops, Z instead of a D.

There is a caravan park behind the Puma (formerly Matilda) service station.

You can also stop at the Gin Gin showgrounds which has full facilities for approx $20 pn.

And as Doug mentioned there is the rest area just past the Puma service station heading north.

Thank you both. Will check it out. Seems a convenience town distance wise to stop in. We know Gin Gin as ALWAYS stop there for food, fuel, loo when passing through but had no idea there was a caravan park until talking with a chap for two minutes when o the road. The showgrounds? Recommended? We do not freedom camp, but have lunched in the beaut camp ground/freecamp on the northern side of town.

Yes stopped there several times and would do so again if the need arose.

Gday Kev,

I live in Gin Gin.  Would not recommend the caravan park.  Stay at the showgrounds.  By far the better place to stay and the rates are great. Only draw back is the caretaker likes to talk. Not associated with either of these places.

The showgrounds it is. And Travelinglew, I don't mind a yarn myself. Just by the way, I have always avoided staying at showgrounds when sites say they are available with power and water. Perhaps my misguided thoughts have been that showgrounds while less costly, may not be so good...security etc. Obviously I need to rethink. Thank you to all who have helped. Cheers. KP
