My Lance Slide On is my home away from home

My set up is a bit of a beast. The Lance 1172 slide on camper on my Dodge Ram 3500 dual wheel monster. biggrin

I love the power of the Dodge Ram effortlessly carrying this 1172 model Lance Camer with ease. The 1172 is the biggest slide on camper you can get, but I tell you what you would not know it on the back of my rig. With double slide on outs on this camper, internally the camper is very big. When standing inside it, you would not know that you are effectively on the back of a ute tray. Best of all with this set up I can tow a trailer for working on the road which combines well with the storage boxes along side the tray of the Dodge which fit perfectly under the camper. When relaxing I also use this set up to tow my boat, of which, (when not working) I basically live with.

My son Ben, has a much smaller but similar set up to me. His goes on a Mazda BT50. Bit smaller and obviously a bit cheaper than my Dodge (which came in at around the $200K mark when all the gear was put on it) Ben's Mazda looks great in convoy when we take the grandkids away and with both on the road we can tow our trailer with bikes and quads and I can still take my boat....

Its brilliant.

p.s: Some of the photos are of my rig set up before finishing it off with some painted boxes etc, but you get the picture I think.... blankstare

Just a query on the Mazda. That Light Bar above the roof. What is it like at night. Don't you get reflected light from the Cabover back through the windscreen?

The two rigs are awesome. Only Slide on I have seen that gives plenty of room.

Awesome rig and setup.

I like the Dodge Ram, in fact I would really love to have one.

Hi there, yeah a little bit of reflection onto the white bonnet but nothing into the cabin. Is is like driving with the sun on at night.....It is really good. Once you turn it off with normal headlights again you feel in darkness, it is really funny

Yeah it is an awesome rig the Dodge. My son and I used to import them and change them from left to right hand drive but now Dodge Ram has gone full volume meaning small players are out of the market. You can get Dodge Rams just over the $100K mark nowadays.
