Only the usual; drop your tyre pressures & drive slower than usual. Its a VERY good long dirt Hwy.
I'd be more concerned with dust ingress into the van than anything else, but hopefully you have that covered?
There's a short stretch just north of the flushing toilet on the track (there's only 1, you won't miss it), where the gibbers are bigger than elsewhere on the track (its only 70km or so long). Just slow down & keep an eye on plumbing/wiring/Anderson plugs etc. Its no biggie if you slow down, but the rocks can wreck wiring etc if you fly through at 90kmh or so.
Hi Guys,, This is a real bummer,,Have been planning trip up there for months,,then these nasty rains came along,, ( do need them ,i know) but messed up my plans.. Not given up yet, as have a week or so up sleeve...Will ring Marree b/4 i go too far north to confirm and change direction to east if needed...Pick up the track on the return if it's possible.
The Birdsville track is currently open to all vehicles with warnings. Check the site in my previous message. We have spoken only this week to people who have come across and it appears to be OK.
