I was sitting here trying to work out what Rufgby League was then I realized it was ruf rugby league. I didn't think they still played that one sided game any more because the bookies were going broke. I will just have a couple of white wines and wake up to see same old same old Cameron, JT and the boys have done it again. The only way I can see them losing is if the MILLION DOLLAR BUNKER BOYS decide to change the outcome which may be of some benefit to blues betting on a win. I suppose the maroon brigade could be nice and let them win for a change just to liven up the game......NAHHHHHH.

It will be great to see Kevvy Walters with his first win with the Maroons...Qld may be getting old but they will have far too much experience for the younger Blues...
KFT....Thugby League...??....I played it in Qld for 5 years...only ever had 2 broken clavicles and a broken nose.....and a right knee that now decides which direction I shall go.....used to have a neck as well but the second row pushed it in....I only ever joined the scrum cos I thought they were talking about me......

Great 'character' builder....and better since they brought in the 'one punch rule'....now they just look angry, without being able to do any more than push each other....lol..
Go the Maroons!.....Hoo Roo

We have to "let" them squeeze one game a winner.
just occasionally.
To keep the interest up.

How many yrs is it now. 8 out of 9 or 9 out of 10?? I forget.

What Pee's me off is all the gates mainly going to the losers.
Should be 2 in QLD 1 in NSW.
followed by 2 in NSW and 1 in QHD.

just to make it fair, hey.

The only reason NSW teams get any premier points is when we on GOO.
All the good QLD players are playing such and we fielding new boys.

And they all scream " we won. We won" even though they only playing half the team. Yea.

Up the Maroons...........

PS.

Until the Blues wake up and realise that the Queensland team are virtually playing together all yr and know each others moves.

Then get some of their top players from same team (What was that about the Sharks?) playing together.

Regardless of quality of other players.

They'll always be on losing side.

Teamwork is what makes a TEAM.  remember.

You have to know each others play.

maroon.......I thought that was an un-ripe plum LOL !

Being from WA, we'll yawn our way through the Origin games that are forced on us by the Eastern States based press media, but best of luck to all the teams and to the avid followers - enjoy the games

I'll be banished to the downstairs TV with all the doors & windows closed ...  To protect SWMBO & the neighbourhood from all the yelling & swearing.

Recorder ready & to warm up I'll spend the afternoon watching previous games (funny how I only have recordings of when Qld wins)

On the dry at present so only tea this year.

GO THE MIGHTY MAROONS

A few of our best have retired. and the Blues got a few new faces in there.
Specially that disposable one they put in there to cover GI.
They'll sacrifice him to get rid of Greg I reckon. Smack Smack. Naughty boy.
Off you go.

I've got my Mars Bar. packet of Licorice Allsorts and bottle of Johnny Walker Double Black..

To Celebrate. or to drown my sorrows.

Time will tell.

But if you look back a few decades.
They are due for another winning run. Must admit they've tried hard enuff

Almost.

Chuckle.... Go the Maroons. again

I'm of that generation that lived thru the years of total domination of 'NSW' teams where one year our top players would play for Qld & then after having been poached by the cashed up Sydney pokie clubs, come back alongside their NSW 'mates' and play for NSW.  We got thrashed for years by that unholy alliance.  I was terribly scarred as a child as a result. yawnsmilebiggrin  Does it show?

From this grows our absolute loathing for NSW R/L and their Sydney centric competition & biased officials.  Only Barry G 'the Grasshopper' was able to dish up a bit of their own back to them & then didn't we hear the howls.

The national competition should never have been called NRL.  Still too NSW biased for me!

Of course I supported the Super League.  It was an opportunity to break the Sydney shackles & make RL a truly International game run on sound business principles (like the Broncos club).  While we dithered, RU stole a march on us & established their International game in the space we voided.

As for kick & giggle (aerial ping pong / forcing back) the less said the better.

I will not be upset if NSW manage to win tonight. It is a bit like when my grand kids come over and eat my licorice all sorts. So they got a couple it doesn't matter there is still plenty left in the jar for me to enjoy.

Well said Cupie...I was an inaugural member of the Adelaide Rams RL side..... under 'Rocket' Rod Reddy..it was fantastic watching our heroes playing in Adelaide and mixing with them after the games...we were just starting to make inroads on the National Scene and of course it all had to fold.....greed, money, corruption, power....betting on the outcomes...drugs,..welcome to Australia today......

P.S. Tip: Maroons 18.....that other team 12....go you good thing!.....Hoo Roo

Well I think I will go and have another licorice all sort. It's funny but sometimes they taste sweeter and I can't work out why.

Well there you go ...

Yet again the NSW plan to outmuscle Qld with the big boppa forwards didn't work.  Been there done that.

Then Gus says that NSW weren't beaten!!! & Conk Daley complained about the refs (seems like he doesn't want tonight's pair to take part in the next two games).  I must say though that I still can't stand a bar of Gus & his pontificating, but I am warming to Conk.  He seems like a nice guy.

I reckon that this year will be the last rep year for Gallen & Sam.

A good tough SOO game but with very little fowl play.

No Nut.

You just need to be a footy follower.

We let them one in 9??? Series. (I think)

Yet three games a series.
. we win 90% and they get two gates takings in NSW to our one in Brissie every yr.
and now they talking about one down in Poofter country (Arial Ping Pong)

Down South of NSW somewhere.

Can't bloody win can you.

Gus has talked out of his arse for the last 40 yrs or so.
and "Conk"..
How the hell is he still there. 8 yrs on the trot and we let them win one to keep the tears back.
They need a fresh brain in there to get them together.
His is the same old. same old.

Only the new player formation helped them tonight. If they can't learn to push forward.
It will be. Same old. Same old.
Unfortunately..

I hope they do finally have a winning team. Well.... For one game anyway..Hey.

Nahhhhh. Maybe not. Change that.

For my money, the referee team were virtually spot on.
Even the Bunker boys got it right.
The centre referees did not penalise either team for laying all over the ball carrier and holding down.
They allowed the game to flow and it became a better spectacular game to watch.
I said at the start of this thread that a 1 point win was all the Mighty Maroons needed. So I am doubly happy with a 2 point win.

Bring on the big one.... at Lang Park ...
Queensland to win the series at Lang PaRK.

But a good arm wrestle and dog fight but the team with " the will to win "... did just that.

Macka....NSW should get Nathan Brown to help 'Conka'...he would be able to show him how to coach better......better at losing that is.......he's successfully coached Newcastle Knights to 10 losses this year....yet every week he sees potential in them....potential to get off the bottom ladder rung?......

I genuinely do like the individual lads in the NSW Team...individually they are fine players....and they play like individuals....

Its Teams that win......Cameron Smith only had two things to say before they went on the field.....Don't let your mates down..and don't let Queensland down....simple but strong message...
The Maroons will win by a greater margin next game.....go you good thing!......Hoo Roo

Personally It's not only the actual Queensland team that gets up my nose, it's the attitude of there supporters, we watched the final last year in a Queensland hotel , not only did we have to watch our team lose but when they presented us with a xxxx cap and a box of tissues, it became bloody embarrassing ..biggrin

Scuse me.

Go back a few decades when NSW were on top.

They didn't rub it in to us.. Did they......
Not much.

What goes around. Comes around.

The ref's were fair.. With the game.
Kept it rolling.

A certain Blues (oh yea. the only) try, came off an obvious forward pass.
And we didn't steal a ball from Sammy did we.
OOPS the camera's showed i'em both clearly.
AND the ref's let the play continue.

Same with the disallowed try. No way he got it to the line. and it had hand under it too.

The last thing I'd be doing if I was Daley was remove those two ref's.
If they played true to the rules it would have been 10 -0

He's as dumb in commenting as he is coaching.
For gods sake get rid of him and get your lads together and make a competition of it.

You've got a team. Get a playmaker to instruct them.... Please.

This game was 90% defence both sides.
Both have to start advancing. The Maroons CAN (52-6)
Do it.

Given that this topic is now on page 3 at time of my post, I suppose that few will read it ...  Perhaps I will repost on a new thread just before the next game.

...........................

Breaking news......

Family Court Ruling from Queensland Australia

A seven year old boy was at the centre of a courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him.

The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with the child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the New South Wales state of origin team , whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.
