Silverado fuel running costs

Ok, people, I know I seem to be asking a lot of questions on vehicles and consumption costs etc, but believe me I am fair dinkum on this. With toeing a 29 ft 5 th wheeler ( cross roads cruiser) what would be the expected fuel lts per/100...

i am quite taken back with Toyota cruisers chewing up between 18 to 26 let's p/100... So a Silverado is chewing what?????

Gday...

I have no personal knowledge or experience on the Silverado - or any of those big yank utes - other than they are fantastic tow vehicles.

However, this site might give you an idea -

[edit: and this one shows the fuel economy when towing - http://www.sdtrucksprings.com/best-mpg-while-towing-with-half-ton-pickup-f150-silverad-ram-1500

and this - http://www.carsguide.com.au/car-reviews/chevrolet-silverado-2500hd-review-10831

Cheers - John

Fuel consumption is about the aero dynamics of the rig (a big brick followed by a small block of flats), the speed that you travel at (up to you, but a small increase equals lots more fuel), the mass of the combination (big), and the rolling resistance (8 heavily laden tyres on the ground).
Changing tugs is not going to make a lot of difference.

Cheers,
Peter

I would think 18/26 ph would be realistic! If it was an Effie pulling a 5th wheeler you would certainly be looking at around 26ltr per 100. Mine uses 18ltr per 100ks with my slide on, averaging 90klms ph.
